NEW RICHMOND, Ohio — New Richmond school leaders are facing fresh financial questions after voters overwhelmingly rejected a proposed operating levy in Tuesday’s primary election.
Unofficial results from the Clermont County Board of Elections show the proposed additional tax levy for New Richmond Exempted Village School District failed by a wide margin.
With all 16 precincts reporting, 2,471 voters — or 69.96% — voted against the levy. Just 1,061 voters, or 30.04%, voted in favor.
The district had asked voters to approve a five-year, 8-mill operating levy to support day-to-day school operations. Before the election, district officials said the levy would have cost an additional $280 per $100,000 of assessed home value.
The defeat comes after the district submitted a fiscal precaution plan in December 2025, following the rejection of an earlier income tax levy. The back-to-back rejections leave the district facing difficult questions over its long-term finances.
The results remain unofficial until certified by election officials.
