BATAVIA, Ohio — Nestlé Purina PetCare will hold the grand opening of its new $550 million pet food factory in Batavia this August, marking the company’s first ground-up manufacturing facility in the U.S. since 1975.
The Clermont County plant, already producing dry dog and cat food, will celebrate the milestone with company leaders, local and state officials, community partners and employees. It is expected to create more than 500 jobs when fully operational.
“We are looking forward to officially opening the doors of our Batavia factory and celebrating this historic moment for our team,” said Mike Ferritto, Purina Batavia’s factory manager. “As one of the largest investments Nestlé has made in a Purina manufacturing facility to date, this facility represents the future of pet food manufacturing.”
The factory is currently employing more than 340 associates and produces high-quality dry food from brands including Purina Pro Plan, Purina ONE and Dog Chow. It will become the 24th Purina factory nationwide and taps into the Cincinnati area’s food manufacturing ecosystem.
Purina CEO and President Nina Leigh Krueger highlighted the facility’s role in strengthening the company’s supply chain.
“By investing in state-of-the-art manufacturing infrastructure and partnering with committed communities like Clermont County, we’re building a facility that will serve pet owners and their beloved companions for generations to come,” Krueger said. “Our new Batavia factory will play a vital role in strengthening our supply chain and ensuring families across the country have access to the trusted Purina products their pets thrive on.”
In addition to the manufacturing investment, Purina has contributed more than $346,000 to local organizations in Clermont County through the Purina Foundation, supporting emergency services, law enforcement and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.
The company said the project underscores its commitment to American manufacturing and job creation. Purina, part of Nestlé, manufactures popular pet food, treat and litter brands and feeds millions of dogs and cats annually.
