Cincinnati Children's to host Discovery Day for middle and high school students May 16

CINCINNATI, Ohio — Cincinnati Children’s is inviting middle and high school students to spend a Saturday exploring science and medical research at its Burnet Campus in Avondale during its fourth annual Discovery Day on May 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The free event is open to students ages 12 to 18 and includes hands-on lab experiments, tours of research facilities, and opportunities to meet healthcare professionals and learn about volunteer and internship programs.

The day begins with a pasta lunch and science games in Sabin Auditorium before students move into lab tours and workshops. One session focuses on zebrafish research and how the animals help scientists study the heart size signaling mechanisms in humans. A second workshop, led by Cincinnati Children’s Respiratory Therapy team, demonstrates pulmonary function tests and explains how they are used in patient care.
