CINCINNATI, Ohio — A press conference will be held today following an arson attack at a Planned Parenthood clinic just outside Clermont County that caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage.
The fire broke out late Thursday night at the organization’s Mt. Auburn location — the only Planned Parenthood clinic in the whole of Cincinnati — prompting an investigation by the Cincinnati Fire Department.
Officials say an intruder entered the building shortly before midnight and a fire was deliberately set inside a first-floor storage area. A sprinkler system activated, helping contain the flames before crews arrived. Firefighters reported smoke coming from the rear of the building and were able to extinguish the remaining fire. No one was inside at the time, and no injuries were reported.
Damage to the building is estimated at around $75,000, according to officials.
Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio says it will address the incident at a press conference Tuesday morning, with CEO Nan Whaley expected to appear alongside local and federal leaders.
Despite the incident, the clinic says it will remain open as the investigation continues.
