WILLIAMSBURG TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Emergency responders rescued a 17-year-old male from a swimming pool Thursday afternoon after he was pulled unresponsive from the water at the YMCA in the 2000 block of James E. Sauls Sr. Drive.
The Clermont County Communications Center received a 911 call at 4:31 p.m. from a female staff member reporting a possible drowning. Clermont County sheriff’s deputies arrived at 4:35 p.m., followed closely by Williamsburg Township Fire & EMS at 4:36 p.m. On-duty lifeguards had already removed the teen from the pool and initiated CPR. EMS personnel took over advanced life support measures upon arrival and successfully restored a pulse.
Due to the severity of the medical emergency, AirCare helicopter service was requested at 4:40 p.m. The victim was airlifted from the scene at 5:29 p.m. and transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center for specialized treatment. He remained in stable condition late Thursday.
Detectives from the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office Investigative Unit, along with the crime scene team, responded to the facility to examine the circumstances. Officials emphasized that no foul play is suspected at this stage of the investigation, which remains ongoing.
The incident prompted a review of pool safety protocols at the facility, though no immediate changes were announced. Authorities have not released the teen’s name pending family notification and further medical updates.
