CLERMONT COUNTY, Ohio — A Clermont County man is accused of stealing his sister’s prescription medication and leaving behind a note reading “Karma!! Have a nice day,” according to court records.
Richard McSwain is charged with first-degree misdemeanor theft following an incident earlier this month at a home on Banberry Trace in Union Township.
According to a police affidavit, officers were called on April 3 to a report of stolen medication. The victim told police her brother had been staying with her until that morning.
She told officers she had filled a prescription for Clonazepam on March 31 and picked it up the following day. But after confronting her brother during a verbal altercation on April 2 — after finding him slumped over in a bedroom — she later discovered the bottle was empty.
When she checked on him again, she told police he had left the home along with his belongings.
According to the affidavit, she later found a handwritten note that read “Karma!! Have a nice day,” along with a list of items he had taken.
Police said no one else lived at the residence.
McSwain denied taking the medication when contacted by officers. The reported value of the prescription was $24.80.
A warrant was issued for his arrest on April 24, court records show.
