PIERCE TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A man was shot and killed by law enforcement early Saturday following an armed standoff at a mobile home park in Clermont County, according to the sheriff’s office.
Clermont County Sheriff Christopher E. Stratton said the county’s communications center received a 911 call at 12:10 a.m. from a man reporting an armed individual. Dispatchers also heard a female in the background indicating the man was intoxicated and suicidal. The caller urged an immediate response and provided an address at Eastgate Mobile Home Park on State Route 125.
Pierce Township Police and deputies with the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched at approximately 12:11 a.m. and arrived on scene at 12:18 a.m., where they encountered the armed individual.
Authorities said the man refused multiple commands to drop the firearm. A deputy and a Pierce Township officer then discharged their weapons, striking the individual.
Pierce Township EMS reached the scene at 12:22 a.m. and began medical treatment, with additional assistance from the Central Joint Fire Department minutes later. AirCare was requested and landed at approximately 12:56 a.m. The man was pronounced dead at 1:05 a.m.
No law enforcement personnel were injured during the incident. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation has been requested to lead the investigation. The identity of the man has not yet been released.
