CLERMONT COUNTY, Ohio — A man previously charged in a Clermont County child sex abuse investigation is now facing a significantly expanded indictment, with prosecutors adding multiple new felony charges as the case continues to grow.
Cristian Nunez-Guzman has been indicted by a Clermont County grand jury on eight counts of rape and five counts of gross sexual imposition, according to the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office. The new charges mark a major escalation in a case that first surfaced earlier this year and has since widened as investigators uncovered additional alleged victims and incidents.
The investigation began January 1, 2026, after Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center alerted authorities to a report from a juvenile involving inappropriate sexual contact. Detectives with the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation and later identified a second minor who also reported similar allegations. Officials say both juveniles independently identified Nunez-Guzman as the suspect, and as the investigation progressed, detectives uncovered additional alleged instances of abuse that are now reflected in the expanded indictment.
Nunez-Guzman was arrested January 2 without incident and initially charged with one count of rape and one count of gross sexual imposition. Authorities say the case has developed significantly since that time, with the latest indictment increasing the charges to eight counts of rape, all first-degree felonies, and five counts of gross sexual imposition, all third-degree felonies. Officials say the additional charges stem from new evidence and allegations identified during the ongoing investigation.
Nunez-Guzman remains in custody at the Clermont County Jail. Authorities say he was previously being held on a $500,000 bond but is now being held without bond following the latest indictment. He is scheduled to appear in court on the new charges as the case moves forward.
According to the sheriff’s office, investigators also worked with federal authorities to confirm Nunez-Guzman’s status. Officials say he is a native and citizen of Mexico who had previously been deported from the United States in 2012 following a prior conviction related to narcotics charges. Authorities say there is no confirmed information about how he reentered the country. He is currently being held on local charges along with an immigration detainer, meaning deportation proceedings could follow once the criminal case is resolved.
Because the case involves minors, authorities say additional details about the allegations are being withheld. Investigators say the case has involved coordination between local law enforcement, prosecutors, and federal agencies.
Nunez-Guzman remains jailed as the case proceeds through the Clermont County court system.
