Batavia man held on $65,000 bond after abduction, strangulation charges

BATAVIA, Ohio — A Batavia man is being held on a $65,000 bond after being charged with abduction and strangulation following an investigation by Batavia Police.

Court records show Jorge Adolfo Ruiz Garcia was charged with third-degree felony abduction and strangulation in connection with an incident reported Sunday. A warrant was issued and served the same day, and a court found probable cause in the case.

During a bond hearing Monday, a judge cited public safety concerns in setting bond conditions. Ruiz Garcia was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim and to avoid drugs and alcohol. He is also required to undergo monitoring and a mental health evaluation.
