BATAVIA, Ohio — A 19-year-old pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Sunday on a rural road in Clermont County, and authorities are searching for the driver who fled the scene.
Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers responded around 4 a.m. to Bethel-New Richmond Road in Ohio Township, east of its intersection with U.S. Route 52, on reports of a vehicle striking a pedestrian.
Upon arrival, they found Jayden Nelson of New Richmond unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash involved an unidentified vehicle that struck Nelson near the roadway before fleeing. No description of the vehicle was released.
The investigation is ongoing by the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Batavia Post. Troopers were assisted at the scene by the New Richmond Police Department, New Richmond Fire Department and the Clermont County Coroner’s Office.
