BATAVIA, Ohio — Nestlé Purina PetCare will hold the grand opening of its new $550 million pet food factory in Batavia this August, marking the company’s first ground-up manufacturing facility in the U.S. since 1975.

The Clermont County plant, already producing dry dog and cat food, will celebrate the milestone with company leaders, local and state officials, community partners and employees. It is expected to create more than 500 jobs when fully operational.

“We are looking forward to officially opening the doors of our Batavia factory and celebrating this historic moment for our team,” said Mike Ferritto, Purina Batavia’s factory manager. “As one of the largest investments Nestlé has made in a Purina manufacturing facility to date, this facility represents the future of pet food manufacturing.”
