MILFORD, Ohio — Milford City Council has taken steps to acquire and clear several parcels in the historic downtown district, paving the way for new commercial or mixed-use development.
On Feb. 3, council approved purchasing seven properties totaling about 0.83 acres in the 200 block of Main Street. The sites include the former Fountain Specialist building and the old Gun Haven Armory. City Manager Benjamin Gunderson described the plan as demolishing existing structures, remediating the land and soliciting developer proposals to revitalize the area.
The initiative builds on years of planning to address underutilized or blighted properties while preserving the character of Milford’s historic core. Officials aim to attract businesses that complement nearby shops, restaurants and cultural attractions.
No specific redevelopment timeline or preferred project types have been finalized. The city continues to engage stakeholders to ensure new development aligns with community goals for vibrancy and walkability.
