MT. ORAB, Ohio — More than 275 residents filled a special village council meeting Jan. 27 to question officials about development plans for the 1,000-acre mega-site sold late last year for potential data center use.
Attendees expressed frustration over limited transparency, pointing to nondisclosure agreements that restricted information sharing. Many sought specifics on environmental reviews, infrastructure requirements and community benefits. Council proceeded with legal and economic development representatives present but offered no detailed project announcements.
The meeting reflected growing public interest since the December 2024 sale under a confidential agreement. Residents pressed for greater involvement in decisions that could reshape the village’s future. Officials have committed to ongoing dialogue but cited contractual limits on disclosures.
The mega-site, marketed as a prime industrial parcel, has drawn attention for its scale in a region seeking economic investment. Further meetings are anticipated as more information emerges.
