UNION TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A New Jersey man is accused of stealing nearly $3,800 worth of merchandise from Ulta Beauty, a beauty and cosmetics superstore in Eastgate.
Enmanuel Oswaldo Martin Ortiz Arevalo, 33, of Paterson, New Jersey, is charged in Clermont County Municipal Court with fifth-degree felony theft.
According to a complaint filed by Union Township Police, officers were called after an alleged theft at Ulta Beauty, 700 Eastgate South Drive, Suite 250, on May 2.
Police allege Ortiz Arevalo passed all points of sale with $3,794 worth of merchandise before leaving the store.
Court documents say he then fled in a black vehicle, which was later stopped for a marked lanes violation. Officers responded to the store and reviewed security camera footage, according to the complaint. Police say Ortiz Arevalo was identified as the suspect seen on surveillance video.
The stolen merchandise was recovered from the vehicle, according to court records.
Ortiz Arevalo appeared for a bond hearing Monday before Judge Matthew J. Graber. Court records show bond was set at $10,000 cash, surety or real estate. The court also ordered reporting bond conditions and no drugs, alcohol or marijuana, with toxicology screening.
A probable cause entry was filed Monday, with the court finding probable cause exists on the theft charge.
An interpreter has been appointed in the case, according to court records.
Ortiz Arevalo is due back in Clermont County Municipal Court on May 12 for a preliminary hearing before Judge Anita M. Bechmann.
