BATAVIA, Ohio — A Clermont County man is facing multiple charges after police say he threatened to burn his family, resisted arrest, and repeatedly called 911 after being taken into custody.
Deyaeldin Abdelfatah Tirba, 33, of Batavia, is charged with disrupting public services, a fourth-degree felony, as well as domestic violence and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors.
According to court affidavits, officers were dispatched to a home on Spring Harvest Drive around 6:20 a.m. April 20 for a reported domestic dispute.
A witness told police Tirba had been yelling and throwing items inside the home. During the incident, the witness recorded audio in which Tirba allegedly threatened to pour gasoline on family members and set both them and the home on fire.
The witness told officers they feared for their safety and said Tirba had acted on threats in the past.
Police say when officers attempted to arrest him, Tirba pulled away and resisted as he was escorted from the home.
He later complained of injuries and was taken to Mercy Health Clermont Hospital for evaluation.
While at the hospital, authorities say Tirba used his cell phone to call 911 multiple times — about five calls in total — claiming his rights had been violated.
Investigators say those calls form the basis of the disrupting public services charge.
After being cleared by medical staff, Tirba was taken to jail, where police say he continued to be combative and refused to follow commands, leading to him being placed in a restraint chair.
A bond hearing is scheduled in Clermont County Municipal Court.
