CLERMONT COUNTY, Ohio – A Batavia man accused in a rape case was ordered held on a $500,000 bond after a Wednesday hearing in Clermont County Municipal Court.

Court records show Johnny Varney faces a first-degree felony rape charge in a case filed April 15. The Clermont County Sheriff’s Office is listed as the investigating agency, and the offense date is listed as April 12.

A judge found probable cause in the case and set a preliminary hearing for April 27.

The court also imposed bond conditions including electronic monitoring, SCRAM monitoring, and no contact/stay-away provisions involving minor children, records show.
