UNION TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A man is facing a charge after police say he was intoxicated and had multiple loaded firearms in his vehicle following a crash in Clermont County.
Travis R. Hosea, 49, of Villa Hills, Kentucky, is charged with using weapons while intoxicated, a first-degree misdemeanor, according to Clermont County Municipal Court records.
According to a complaint and affidavit, officers responded April 9 to the Park Plaza area on Ohio Pike for a reported crash involving a silver truck. When officers arrived, they made contact with Hosea, who police said appeared unsteady on his feet and had difficulty maintaining his balance, at times holding onto his vehicle for support.
Officers said they detected the odor of alcohol, and Hosea told them he had been at the dentist and had been given gas. When asked if he felt impaired, he told officers he did, according to the report.
Police said Hosea was unable to complete field sobriety tests and was taken into custody.
During an inventory of the vehicle, officers located a handgun with a loaded magazine in a bag near the driver’s seat, along with an AR-15 rifle in the back seat with multiple loaded magazines. An open container of alcohol was also found inside the vehicle, according to the affidavit.
Court records show a warrant was issued in the case.
