MIAMI TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A woman is facing a felony charge after police say she refused orders to stop at a Loveland convenience store and fled in a vehicle toward Interstate 275 before officers ended the pursuit at the Hamilton County line.
Amber Nicole Dunaway, 43, is charged with fourth-degree felony failure to comply, according to Clermont County Municipal Court records.
According to a complaint and affidavit, Miami Township officers were at the United Dairy Farmers on Branch Hill-Guinea Pike around 10:23 p.m. April 9 after locating a black Chevrolet Impala linked to a person with an outstanding warrant through Clermont County Municipal Court.
As an officer approached the vehicle, police said Dunaway got in and began backing out of a parking space. Officers ordered her several times to stop, but she continued reversing and drove over a large curb, according to the affidavit.
Police said a marked cruiser then activated its emergency lights, but Dunaway drove off at a high rate of speed through the parking lot before turning north onto Loveland-Miamiville Road.
The vehicle continued toward Wards Corner Road and then onto Interstate 275, still refusing to stop despite emergency lights, according to the report. Officers ended the pursuit at the Hamilton County line.
Investigators later identified Dunaway as the driver using her Bureau of Motor Vehicles image. The incident was captured on body-worn camera, and police said Dunaway later admitted to the incident to a Cincinnati police officer.
Court records show a warrant was issued April 10.
Dunaway is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
