BATAVIA, Ohio — Rows of blue pinwheels now line the lawn outside the Clermont County Municipal Court, each one representing a child abuse case reported in the county last year.
The display in Batavia marks Child Abuse Prevention Month and highlights the scale of the issue locally, with officials reporting approximately 1,400 cases of abuse and neglect in 2025.
Representatives from the prosecutor’s office, sheriff’s office, and child protection agencies gathered this week to place the pinwheels along State Route 222.
Clermont County Prosecutor Mark J. Tekulve said the effort is about both awareness and accountability.
Officials say multiple agencies continue to work together to investigate cases, protect victims, and pursue those responsible.
The display will remain in place throughout April as a visible reminder of the children affected across the county.
Those who suspect child abuse or neglect are encouraged to contact the Clermont County Department of Job and Family Services or local law enforcement.
